January 2026 Meeting Minutes

Meeting Called to Order at 4:42

Attended
Nikki Gongaware- President
Taylor Allison- Secretary
Shaylyn Folkerts- Social Media
Ali Allison- (as of meeting is a Director on the Board)

Old News
We talked about Club Incorporation and Bylaws.

Decided we would post the meeting minutes to the website instead of emailing out.

Last meeting we all agreed upon spending $3000.00 of the clubs' funds. We thought costumes, Nikki is going to get a quote to rent stuff for a backdrop for this year's Carnival (we thought it may be easier to rent then buy curtains?), Shaylyn has been looking at some decorations for Carnival. The Theme this year is Candyland.

New Business

We all agreed that we need some more members on the Skating board. (we thought 2 Directors and next year maybe a Carnival committee). Ali Allison volunteered to be 1 Director. We could send an email out to all parents and see if we can get 1 more.

We we’re currently waiting for 4 families to still pay fees for this session. Nikki got payment from 2 families yesterday, Jan 21st.

Raffle Table ideas for Carnival were discussed and we all decided to go ahead with the Raffle Table again this year. We will still do roses and will incorporate a “candy game” into the raffle table( Ali mentioned guess how many candies are in the Jar ?). We decided that ALL CANSKATE FAMILIES will be required to just give $50.00 CASH, so bigger items can be purchased for the raffle table and more “Kid” items. STAR SKATE FAMILIES are required to donate $50.00 CASH ONLY and find 1 sponsorship. Red Deer skaters attending carnival we thought they could donate an item to the raffle table as a club (1 item).

50/50
The Idea for a Skater Board (like a player's board) instead of a normal 50/50 was talked about. We think it’s a good idea to do something different and probably would go over better than the regular 50/50.

We all agreed that the club will eat the cost of the costumes for this year's Carnival. For future years there will be a charge.

Pictures will be done before Carnival. Nikki reached out to Des, Amanda and Donna and Des and Amanda can’t commit due to hockey play offs. Donna charges $150.00 (+$5.00 a image to purchase) or $500.00 dollars and you get all the images. We decided to go with the $150.00 option, and the Club can purchase the group photos for each group.

Meeting was done at 5:15pm

Next meeting is Feb 4th at 4:30pm.
